Registration Fees & Bursaries

The Bursary application process for the 2009 Test Delivery year is now closed.

The cost to sit the UKCAT is £60 for candidates taking the test in the European Union (EU) before 31st August 2009 and £95 for other candidates. Between 1st September and 9th October 2009 the cost is £75.00 for candidates taking the UKCAT in the EU.

Please note that the registration and test fees depend on the test centre location, not on your place of residence or nationality.

The registration fee is payable online at the time of booking by major credit card (Visa, Mastercard or UK Visa debit card). The fee is always charged in GBP (pounds sterling). If you have a non-UK credit card, your credit card company will bill you according to its own rules for foreign transactions.

If you or your parents do not have access to a Visa, MasterCard credit card or UK Visa debit card to pay for the UKCAT test fee, you can pay by purchasing a Prepaid Visa, MasterCard or Voucher from one of the following organisations below:

3V Vouchers
UK Post Office
Virgin

You can also check with your local bank for Prepaid credit card options.

Bursaries

If you wish to apply for a bursary we have a simple form on which you must declare that you meet the eligibility conditions. You must print this out and send it to the UKCAT Administrator (The address is on the application form), enclosing evidence of your entitlement and marking the outside of the envelope "UKCAT: Bursaries". If you wish your evidence to be returned you must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your application, otherwise your documents will be destroyed.

To be eligible for a UKCAT bursary, candidates must either be in receipt of Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) at the top rate of £30 or be personally in receipt of income support. Evidence in the form of a letter from the UK Job Centre Plus or the DfES-appointed awarding body for Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) or the equivalent government agency in another EU country will usually suffice, but we reserve the right to ask for further supporting material. As soon as we have received and reviewed the documentary evidence of entitlement, we will send you a voucher number by email. This email constitutes your bursary voucher.

So what do I do when I get the bursary voucher?
You can use your bursary voucher straightaway to register and pay for the UKCAT. As a bursary applicant, you do not need to send us any payment for the voucher. You simply have to enter your voucher number into the Pearson VUE booking system when registering to take the UKCAT.

What if my bursary application is turned down once I have sent in my documentary evidence?
If your application for a bursary is rejected (because you are not receiving an eligible state benefit or you are unable to provide evidence of such), you will have to pay for the UKCAT.
