Europe, Middle East and Africa

UK/European Union EU

In order to take the test in the UK or elsewhere in the EU you need to bring one of the following forms of photographic identity to the test centre.  No other documents are acceptable:

  • A current (non-expired), original signed passport
  • A current (non-expired) signed government-issued photocard driving licence (full or provisional)
  • A current (non-expired), original government-issued identity card that carries your photograph and signature

Please ensure the documents you provide are originals, current and signed.

Important

  • Government-issued identity cards are issued by government agencies as proof of citizenship. The card information MUST be presented in ROMAN SCRIPT as well as the original character set. For example, a Greek identity card will have Greek characters and Roman characters and would permit candidates to sit the exam.
  • In the UK and many other countries, if your passport was issued before your 16th birthday it is likely to be a child’s passport. As these are not usually signed by the passport holder, this will not be accepted as a valid ID on its own; you will need to bring another form of identification to the test centre with you from the list above, or see below for UK candidates only.

UK Only

If you do not have and cannot obtain one of these forms of identification above, there is a fallback solution. Please ask your school or college to attach your photograph to its headed notepaper:

"This document is to confirm the identity of our student [insert your name], date of birth [insert your date of birth], whose signature appears below, endorsed with the official stamp of the school (that covers part of the photograph)."

The form must be signed by a head teacher or a senior member of staff and bear the school stamp. You must also sign this document.
